1927年生，49年浙江大學化學系畢業，畢業后留校在化學任教。 52年調至復旦大學化學系 55年至94年在蘭州大學化學系任教 94年4月調回浙江大學化學系 79年晉升為教授 81年批準為我國首批博士生導師 91年當選為中國科學院院士兼任中國化學會常務理事，國家教委科技委員會成員，《化學學報》、《高等學校化學學報》等刊物編委。
